Course Description: Staff are often confronted with student psychosocial challenges and psychiatric emergencies during their work and may feel overwhelmed or disempowered when dealing with these challenges. The aim of the workshop is to give an overview of basic helping skills that may empower the staff member to provide immediate support to the student. This includes skills such empathic and reflective listening, and boundaries management. Furthermore, the workshop will focus on different types of cases that one may be confronted with and discuss practical steps on how to respond and refer the student who may be in distress. During the workshop we will specifically discuss how to respond to a case of GBV and suicide risk.
